Jessica Holland – Director of Community Relations
Jess is a Marion native and Indiana Wesleyan University graduate. She earned a General Studies Degree with a focus in Graphic Design. After graduation she worked at IWU where she became a strong advocate for Marion. She is passionate about supporting and encouraging the creative environment of The Refinery and the brilliant minds there. She loves creating videos that help local organizations share and preserve their stories in such a way that unites those who watch them.
Brady Henry – Marketing Manager
Brady is a senior Business Management and Entrepreneurship major from Pendleton, IN. He has a passion for entrepreneurship, and loves engaging and growing small businesses through social media networking. After graduation, he is hoping to move to the Indy area and find a job in tech sales. Brady is super excited to be working with The Refinery and can’t wait to continue empowering Marion entrepreneurs!
Amanda Couser – Finance Manager
Amanda is a senior Photography and Business Administration major at Indiana Wesleyan University. She is from Lansing Illinois, but hopes to move to Fort Wayne after graduation. The things she loves most is serving people and being a helping hand wherever it is needed. Amanda is passionate about photography, planning events and developing budgets. Some things she enjoys outside of work include visiting animal shelters, volunteering in the community and playing volleyball. Her plans after graduation are to shoot weddings on the weekends and work in a business during the week.
Shelby Bowen – Executive Director
After graduating from Marion High School, Indiana State, and the IU Maurer School of Law, Shelby was VP of a national real estate development company for eight years before spending two years with the Community Development Department in the City of Fishers (‘13- May ’15). Shelby is currently VP of Development for Envoy, Inc., one of the State’s leading public/private partnership real estate development companies. After leading successful community development initiatives in Carmel and Fishers, Shelby wanted to work with the City of Marion to bring the same resources back to his hometown. Shelby is also an Entrepreneur in Residence for Launch Indiana and is passionate about mentoring and advising students, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.
Peter Hart – Board President
Peter grew up in Grant County where he worked with his father at Arbor Trace Golf Club. His passion for the community of Marion and the people of Grant County runs deep. After he graduated from Taylor University in 2005 with a BA in Business Management he joined a digital marketing startup in Noblesville. Peter helped that company grow to almost $4 million in revenue and 26 employees before leaving in 2014 to join a marketing automation startup in Indianapolis and to launch his own technology startup serving non-profits. He’s a serial entrepreneur at heart who likes to find creative solutions to problems and is passionate about empowering others.
John Wechsler – Chief Advisor
John is one of the premier innovation entrepreneurs in the State of Indiana. As founder of Launch Fishers, a 16,000 square foot launch pad for high- potential enterprises, John has had an unprecedented impact on the City of Fishers. Additionally, John partnered with The Indiana Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship to create Launch Indiana, a program to build entrepreneurial capacity throughout the state through mentorship, workshops and digital content. John has also served as Entrepreneur in Residence for Indiana Small Business Development Center. With several start-ups and exits in his portfolio, John is an industry expert on technology driven innovation, start-up business strategies, accelerated development models, and venture capital resources.
